Flying Solo

The rest of my work week went smoothly. I planned and prepared my first solo lesson for the 1st year Junior High(Grade 1's) students on Thursday and it went extremely well! They LOVED it. We worked on the pronunciation of letters in the English language that are hard for Japanese people to say like R, L, V, B, F, W, Th, Sh, S...it was jokes because I was acting the fool while teaching. They enjoyed the acting the fool part, which helped them during the learning process. One example of my acting the fool...teaching them the difference between saying 'ear' and 'year'...I'm up at the front of the class, repeating ear, ear, ear and putting major emphasis on the beginning, then I say now listen to how i say year. To them it sounds the same, so I say "ok so you you know in kung fu and karate movies when they are fighting?" Then I pretend I'm doing a wicked karate move and say "hiiiiieeeeeee YA!" LOL "see the sound I make when I say ya?, that is how the y should sound" and then I proceed to repeat year, year, year, ear, ear, ear. It was fun. What highlighted my week even more was my Grade 1 JTE's(japanese teacher of English). He asked me if I had taught before, to which I responded no and he gave me this surprised look. He asked what my vocation will be and proceeded to say that teaching is definitely it. I was grinning from ear to ear for the rest of the day. I got home and tried to do ten million things at once. I finally got around to packing for the weekend around 12:30am. I really don't know where the time goes sometimes. Friday I had 3 classes, one with the grade 3's and 2 with the grade 1's. This was my first time flying solo during my lessons and it felt great! After work I headed to the bank, home to pick up my bag and was on the train to Gifu at 3:51pm looking forward to a weekend of festivaling with Khaleelah.
