Battle Rain

Today marked my first, full-fledged battle of riding my bike in the rain with umbrella in hand. Bwoooooooy let me tell you that it is haaaaard work! Forget the fact that I have to ride uphill for about 5 minutes to get to my school, it's the juggling of my umbrella from hand to hand without falling face down in the ditch that I was worried about. As I got ready to leave the house, I donned my plastic rain pants (there is nothing worse than the feeling of wearing wet pants) and grabbed my umbrella. I realize the thought process is semi-involved when making preparations to tackle a feat such as this. Mine went from making sure I had paper towel in my pocket to wipe my bike seat, to putting my school bag in a plastic bag and covering the bike basket with another plastic bag so my things wouldn't get wet. I laughed at myself many times this morning as I narrowly avoided intimate encounters with the sewer ditch to avoid crashing into oncoming bicycle traffic(read: 3-4 cyclists that were riding to work downhill on the same sidewalk). I couldn't let this experience go by without taking a picture of it, c'mon now. When I got to work I had one of the teachers take a picture of me standing, with umbrella in hand, of me in my plastic rain pants. If I remember I'll take a picture of my bike so you can get the real picture(haha no pun intended). I am now sitting at my desk debating on what I should do to kill time until my first class....steupssssssss I just remembered my hubby(Stevie) is going to be in concert in TORONTO and I am not there! I feel like crying, but that is another story.
